Biography[]
Zé Romeo started his footballing career in late 2000 at the youth academies of Clube Atlético Mineiro. In mid-2002, he was bought by Calcio Catania in Italy. In the summer of 2004, he was sold to Mediterranean FC in Brunant, and played with their FC Mediterranean II squad in the Parish League System.
In 2005, he was bought by Grijzestad University S.C., and was immediately made the squad captain by chairman/owner Dominic Santos and manager Mazinho, a position he would hold throughout his career at the club. His tenure at Grijzestad University S.C. has been perhaps the best/best-known part of his career. Though Zé Romeo was unable to lead GUSC to promotion to the First League, he was praised for his performances and was also a fairly consistent goalscorer for the team: he scored seven goals in the 2005-06 Second League, eight in the 2006-07 season, eight in 2007-08 and five in 2008-09.
In the summer of 2009, Dominic Santos left Grijzestad University S.C., and Zé Romeo was sold to FC Donderar. He also performed well there, but was sold the next summer to Cagliari Calcio in Italy. In the summer of 2012, he returned to Brunant when he was bought by Caroline Park FC. In February 2017, he ended his European football career and joined Criciúma Esporte Clube in Brazil.
