The Heart Attack

The Heart Attack is an 2014 dark comedy film directed by John Fadaaq and written by Chad Xavier and starring Felix Bitting, Philip Rennet and Lina Recari. It was produced by Studio 5, one of their few comedies.

Plot[]

Albert (Rennet) is an 80-year-old man who is nearing his deathbed but is hoping to achieve one thing before he dies, being with the love of his life. Josephine, though, has been dead some 20 years, though he cannot know she feigned her death in order to escape an Italian lover, Roberto. One day, while walking past a elderly home, he sees someone who looks like Josephine (Recari). He attemps to go in and speak to her, but is stopped at the door saying that strangers are not allowed visits. Being more sure than ever it was her, he hatches a plan to try and reach her and proclaim his love.

Albert enslists the help of a neighbor's son, John (Bitting), a man skilled in borrowing without permission and waltzing by undetected. Promising John his prized vintage car and a shot at charming a "dashing nurse in the home", John does not hesitate to help. He is meant to charm the nurse at the door, but instead of the good looking one at the door, it is her ugly haggard coworker whom John refuses to advance on.

Instead, John comes up with another idea and to the door they march in, with Albert squabbling in gibberish and using heavy hand gestures. John then says to the nurse, "this is Signore Roberto, and he is here to see Josephine". The nurse has heard of the stories and about the famed Roberto, but astonished to see him she lets him in, as he is a relative.

Before letting them in Josephine's room, she has someone warn her that Roberto is going to see her. As Albert enters her dark room, he is about to turn on the lights when he sees stars, Josephine having taken a kitchen pan and knocked out "Roberto". When she sees who he really is, she begins to panic together with John, who don't sense a pulse in him. Fearing him dead and their implication of having killed him, they manage to sneak out his corpse into his car, and John called the crematorium to arrange for his body.

It is only while driving when he discovers him waking and indeed alive. After such an adventure, he only sees it fitting that they return to the home to finally be with Josephine. Albert goes into her room and finally lays his eyes on her, though just as he is about to reach her he stumbles to the floor, a heart attack having taken him but a moment too soon.
