Seelaar in 2010
Paul-Jan Seelaar (11 May 1934) is a Brunanter filmmaker, actor painter and poet. Best known for his avant-garde films, Seelaar is widely considered the most important figure of surrealist cinema in Brunant. Many of his first films, including the award-winning Zarathustra (1969), Where the Ocean meets the Sun (1972) and Into Maarten's Head (1977), have been much praised by the critics.
Before turning to cinema, Seelaar had released several poetic collections and continues to write poems until today. He has drawn much controversy in the Brunanter public opinion for his advocacy and consumption of psychedelic drugs, as well as being an outspoken occultist. Seelaar has been called "a personality between Alejandro Jodorowsky, Herbert S. Hosen and Giorgio de Chirico".
Early life[]
Seelaar was born in Grijzestad, but he grew up in Sint-Hendrikstad.
