Michael Campbell (13 August 1980) is a retired Brunanter footballer who last played for F.C. Catarina in Prasia as a midfielder. Campbell has played as a defensive midfielder his whole career at St. Marks Koningstad and was a key player at his club.

Career[]

Club career[]

Campbell joined the St. Marks youth academy in 1991 as a forward, but he was soon redeployed as a midfielder, where he would perform better. Campbell performed well enough that he was called up to play for reserve side Alexandria Koningstad in the Cape Cross League.

Campbell played for Alexandria from 1997 to 2001, becoming a crucial plyer for the team. Campbell played in 65 matches with Alexandria, becoming a crucial player for the team. In the summer of 2000 he was called up to some friendly matches for the St. Marks Koningstad senior team but he eventually did not play.

Finally in the summer of 2001 he made his debut in a pre-season friendly. Campbell played in every season since 2001-02, becoming a key player in the squad. Since then he has scored twelve times for his club and made countless assists. Injury to defenders saw him often redeployed as a defender for the 2011-12 First League, which did not suit him too well, and consequently his form dipped.

Campbell has since maintained decent form, though there had been persistent rumors of him being transferred. In December 2013 Campbell officially announced he'd depart the club in the summer and hopefully join a club abroad.

Campbell was signed for free by F.C. Catarina in Prasia, where he is a starting player. He retired from football in 2018, after five year with Catarina.

International career[]

Campbell played for the Brunant national U-20 team from 1998 to 2001. He was not called up to the senior team. Good form in later years saw him called up for a friendly match in 2005, though he made his debut as a substitute in a 2006 friendly. against the United States. He has not been called up to play again.
