Lethal Suits (Dutch: Dodelijke Pakken) is a 2010 Brunanter crime film, directed by Adam Martin, who also wrote the screenplay. Known for its humourous dialogs and the violent scenes, it was a huge critical and commercial success. The film drew less controversy than anticipated and is considered Martin's best film.

Plot[]

In a virtually empty restaurant of Charleston Beach, the powerful gangster, Mr. Dykstra (Alexander Neyt) bribes Johan Maas (Herman van de Laar), an aging referee of 2. Liga, in order to favor a certain team on an upcoming match. The two men shake hands and Maas leaves with a great amount of money. Maas, however, double-crosses Dykstra, betting his payoff on the other team at very favorable odds.

A frustrated Dykstra assigns Corto Esperanzo (Miquel Ricard) to find and kill Maas. Unlickily, no other hitman is available, due to other missions. Dykstra decides to introduce Esperanzo to "Lucky" Dermott (Gregory Hume), a retired hitman who lives peacefully with his wife and his only daughter. After long negotiations, Dermott accepts the offer.

While driving to Maas' house, the two men talk about Dermott's life: his Irish ancestry, his "funny" name (which he has revealed to none but his family) and his passion for cooking. Van de Laar is not at home though and the two hitmen violently interrogate people who have been involved in Maas' network. Finally, they learn that he left for Sint-Hendrikstad. Before leaving, Dykstra introduces them to his daughter Ilse, who also wants to become a hitman. Esperanzo and Dermott take her to their trip.

On their way to Sint-Hendrikstad, Esperanzo is much attracted by Ilse, who however seems to be indifferent. A clueless Maas smokes Cuban cigars in the garden of his new cottage, until the three killers appear and capture him. Ilse suggests to torture Maas "a la Mr. Blonde",[1] but after asking him about other participants in the network, the three of them shoot him simultaneously.
