The Holten Stadium in Nieuw Helmond

Holten Stadium is the second-largest football stadium in Nieuw Helmond, Brunant with a capacity of 15,000. It is mainly used by football team Helmond Real Sport Club but can be used as a multi-purpose stadium as well. It was built in 2014 by Jensen Architects, funded by and named after the Holten corporation, the main sponsor of Helmond RSC.

History[]

The construction of - at the time still a nameless stadium - began 2011 and was completed in 2014 to make it the home stadium of football club Helmond Real Sport Club. In 2011 Helmond RSC was still playing in the Nieuw Helmond Field with a capacity of 2,900. The directory decided to renovate the stadium and Jensen Architects designed a larger and more modern stadium. The latter means unique spraying techniques and field heating so games can take place in any weather. Adjacent to the stadium, a restaurant, a café and a reception hall were built.

The stadium was named Holten Stadium in honor of Holten, Helmond RSC's main sponsor. Senator John Sayer of the Helmond Parish attended the opening on 30 August 2014. The first game in the Holten Stadium was a friendly game the next day against Helmond Raiders. The game was won by the home team and ended with a 2-1 result. The first Second League game was Carrington FC on 4 October the same year. Also this game was won and ended 1-0.
