Carrington's Arch is a large arch in Koningstad, Brunant built to commemorate James Carrington's victory after the Invasion of Brunant in 1784. The arch is 20 metres tall.
History
The arch was built in central Koningstad (Koningstad Centrum) from 1787-88 and it was designed by Alexander McCarow. It was made out of stone in a Baroque style. After James Carrington's death in 1802, there were plans to remove the arch, but it was eventually never taken down. The arch was later changed to be a monument to soldiers of historic wars in Brunant in 1890. During the the German invasion in 1941, German soldiers paraded through the arch like they did in Paris in 1940.
