Brasefort's Revolt was a series revolts in Brunant carried out by Barzuna soldier Mateus Brasefort and his followers, firstly against the Venetians and later on against the Brunanter Republic.

Background[]

Around 1414-1415, the authorities sent 25 soldiers to take down the mosque at Niesburg. The townspeople would not cooperate and that night Mateus decimated the Venetians. The authorities later sent 200 soldiers to arrest him, but he assembled a force of nine men who defeated the Venetians. Shortly after he vowed to wage war on the Venetians and liberate his neighbors from their oppression.

First revolt (1415-1425)[]

In 1415 Brasefort began his first moves against the Venetians by robbing a taxman.

War of Independence[]

During the War of Independence, Niesburg was beseiged by the Venetians from July to late August 1427. Brasefort organized a defense of the castle but could not defend against the larger siege weapons. In August the town was destroyed and his family was killed. Brasefort's men also lost loved ones and they became enraged at this.
